Exploring Science & Technology with a Microphone

Standard

Allison Mills loves investigating science and technology through sound. She’s working on her master’s in environmental science and natural resource journalism, and as a Science Source Fellow at the University of Montana, writes and produces environmental science stories for rural and native communities.

In the first half of this show, Mills talks with energy auditor Laurie Prati about her job and the challenges Prati has encountered as a woman in a male-dominated field.

In the second half-hour, Mills shares the goals she has when making radio and her background. Basically, she insists, she “tries to transport listeners to a place where real people talk and live, while sneaking in a few geeky science tidbits.” Produced by Beth Judy, originally aired June 18, 2013.
