Smurfit Mill, Superfund, and the Clark Fork River

Standard

Amy Cilimburg talks with Chris Brick from the Clark Fork Coalition and Peter Nielson, Missoula City/County’s Water Quality Specialist,  about the Smurfit-Stone Mill site west of town, the problem with toxins left behind, and what can and should be done to restore the site, engage in economic recovery, and protect the biologically rich Important Bird Area along the Clark Fork River.

This show aired on December 4 on Montana Public Radio.

It’s a timely story — the County has just requested the EPA prioritize this site for Superfund clean up.  Listen to learn what that means and then stay informed by visiting the Clark Fork Coalition.
